Call for Presentations Open – 2014 Eden Alternative International Conference
Today, the Call for Presentations opens for the 2014 Eden Alternative International Conference. Strike a Chord, Resonate Well-Being. Scheduled from April 30 to May 2, 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee, the conference’s theme highlights the power of the Eden Alternative Domains of Well-Being™ and how they help us create a life worth living for all members of the care partner team, wherever Elders live.
The unique conference framework highlights focus-specific break-out tracks and interactive general sessions, including a set of TEDTalk-inspired events designed to get you thinking. The Call for Presentations will solicit submissions for 30-minute break-out sessions featuring specific application of each of the seven Eden Alternative Domains of Well-Being™: identity, growth, autonomy, security, connectedness, meaning, and joy.
The Domains of Well-Being gives us the opportunity to ask really powerful questions. What are some of the amazing changes that you are making each day that are having a positive impact on care partners (Elders, employees, family members, and volunteers) or the organization as a whole? What new ideas have you implemented that strengthen care partners’ identity? How has a change helped care partners to grow? In what ways are you increasing autonomy for care partners or teams? How are you helping people feel more secure in their surroundings and/or their role? What are some new ways that care partners are connecting with others inside and outside the organization? How has meaning been driven deeply into the daily lives of care partners? What has happened that brings moments of joy to care partners?
What makes the Domains of Well-being so powerful is the way they bring us back to our own experience of what it means to be human. They personalize our understanding of what genuine care really is by calling on us to reflect on what we each hold dear. Suddenly, the basic ideas behind person-directed care don’t seem so abstract anymore, and we have a simple, but meaningful framework to drive change initiatives that offers real impact.
Presenting at the conference gives you the opportunity to share your passion and experience with other leaders in the field, and be recognized for your commitment to creating a better world for Elders and their care partners. Everyone has a story about strengthening a domain of well-being. We are looking forward to hearing yours at the conference!
