Mark your calendars for the 22nd Annual Alzheimer’s Association Education Symposium “Changing Minds” presented by Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado in partnership with the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine Oct. 12 at the Marriott Denver Tech Center.

The one day symposium themed “Changing Minds” will bring together experts on Alzheimer’s disease who are helping transform the way we think about dementia and Alzheimer’s. Eden Alternative mentor and geriatrician Dr. Al Power, author of Dementia Beyond Drugs: Changing the Culture of Care, will be among the featured speakers.

The Alzheimer’s Association Education Symposium is renowned for bringing together experts on Alzheimer’s disease including leading national researchers and healthcare professionals. The symposium will feature panelists, speakers and exhibitors offering the latest in treatment, research and caregiving techniques as well as revolutionizing ideas about public policy and advocacy and person-centered care for people with Alzheimer’s disease.

This year’s Early Stage Forum for those with dementia will take place at the Marriott Denver Tech Center Oct 12 with registration beginning at 7:30 am, the same time as the Symposium. Holding the Early Stage Forum at the same time offers those with dementia an opportunity to attend the opening and closing sessions but participate with Lisa Snyder, author of “Living Your Best with Early Stage Alzheimer’s”, in breakout sessions designed in a comfortable, safe setting. This thoughtfully-paced schedule was planned to minimize stress and fatigue for those with dementia. Care partners, family members, spouses or friends accompanying the person with dementia are welcome to attend the Early Stage Forum, however, this special program is specifically designed for those with dementia. For more information about the scholarships offered by Seniors Inc for individuals with dementia or to register for the Early Stage Forum call 303-813-1669 or email ken.helander@alz.org

Registration is $120 per person for the Symposium and $60 for those with dementia attending the Early Stage Forum. Organizations sending more than four registrants to the Symposium qualify for a reduced rate of $99 per person and Students are $60. Register online at alz.org/co.
