Consumer Guide in Finding a Home PDF Print E-mail
iStock_000004227028SmallThe Eden Alternative home office receives calls and e-mails daily from elders, family members, and others seeking to find a long-term care setting working on implementing The Eden Alternative philosophy. The Eden Registered Homes are the first home recommended, based on the knowledge that the staff at the home office have about the progress of the home on its Eden journey.

To assist people in finding a home we have created a consumer guide to assist you in asking the right questions to learn more about the organization itself, and the people who live and work there.

We hope that this guide will assist you in finding yourself at a doorstep of a home where they are working to create a life worth living for each person making their home there, a  place people enjoy working and a place people are proud to be part of the community.

Organizations that are on the Eden Registry are now on the Path to Mastery: The Art of Creating a Caring Community. The Path to Mastery contains four Milestones and as each organization progresses, the most recent Milestone they have completed is marked on their entry on our website. We have created a Consumer Guide for each Milestone to help you understand what the organization is working on and what to expect when you come to visit. It includes interview questions and observations.

The Eden Alternative Journey: Impacting the MDS 3.0 and QIS Process
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have launched two new processes in long-term care settings in the United States. Both processes are designed to assess how well each Elder's voice and choice are being heard and responded to in their home. This paper shows how the Eden Alternative Principles can assist organizations in meeting these new requirements and improving the lives of the Elders.
