The Eden Alternative® has blazed a trail in the culture change movement for more than 20 years. Thank you for considering sharing your knowledge and expertise with us at the 6th Eden Alternative International Conference which is committed to providing multiple tracks of cutting-edge content designed to cover the full continuum of care. We would be honored to have you submit a presentation proposal for the conference.  By presenting at the conference, you have the opportunity to share your passion and experience with other leaders in the field, and be recognized for your achievements in creating a better world for Elders and their care partners. We have prepared this information as a guide for proposal submission.

AUDIENCE
The Eden Alternative® International Conference attracts people involved in long-term care across the care continuum, from Emergency Rooms to home care to those living in long-term care communities (residential and skilled). This is a networking opportunity for Elders, physicians, licensed health care professionals, and care partners from around the world.

SELECTION CRITERIA
These are the core criteria used to review all proposals:
  • Completeness of the proposal;
  • Use of the Eden Alternative Principles and the language of Elder-directed care and culture change;
  • Timeliness of the subject matter;
  • Practical application of the topic and the material;
  • Clarity and organization of the information;
  • Presentation strategies based on adult learning principles and participant interaction;
  • Presenter qualifications; and
  • Overall quality of the presentation.  

You will be notified the first week of November 2011 if your proposal has been selected.
 
FORMAT
Please use the proposal form (word.doc) below to submit your proposal.  We request that you  do not modify the format of the form. Please feel free to submit more than one presentation proposal. However, you must submit a separate proposal for each presentation.  Proposals must be submitted electronically to be considered.  Please attach your form (see below for download link) to an email addressed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Your proposal form will include:
•    Presentation Overview;
•    Learner Objectives;
•    Biographical Data;*
•    Bibliography, and
•    Presenter Policy*

*Please note that the Bio and Presenter Policy forms require an electronic signature. 

We ask that you craft a proposal that demonstrates dynamic and innovative learning based, on the principles of adult-learning and Elder-directed care. We believe that education must be interactive, interesting, exciting, unique and memorable. We encourage the use of group activities, case studies, worksheets, and audio-visual equipment. This year all sessions are 90-minutes in length to facilitate the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) process.

SELECTION PROCESS:
The deadline for submitting a proposal is Friday, September 16, 2011.

  2. If you submit more than one proposal, you must send each as a separate form in separate emails.  
  3. Due to the CEU requirements, we cannot accept incomplete proposals or proposals that do not meet the specifications.
  4. You are expressly prohibited from promoting a company, services, or product during a presentation. If you wish to do so, please consider becoming a Friends of Eden Exhibitor.
  5. The Eden Alternative® reserves the right to request modifications to your proposal(s) before final selection.
  6. You will NOT receive a confirmation of your submission, due to the high volume anticipated.
  7. We will review and select presentations no later than November 1, 2011. We will notify ONLY those who were selected.
  8. We may ask selected presenters for assistance during the application process for continuing education credit.
