Allegan County Medical Care Facility in Allegan, MI joined the Eden Registry on June 28, 2010. This home has been on their Eden Alternative journey for awhile now and it is evident in their progress. They recently completed some major construction to open two households and two neighborhoods. They also have a Generations Day Care for Elders in the community. The opening of the households has brought a new dimension to life for the Elders and the care partners. Meals are prepared in the household kitchens and the Elders are invited to participate in meal preparations. The care partners have been cross-trained to meet a variety of Elder needs throughout the day. On Fridays, the care partners often bring in their children and pets to visit the Elders throughout the community. The rhythm of daily life in the households matches that of the Elders that live there. Each household and neighborhood is designed to meet specific care needs of the Elders. This is a home that has created a strong sense of commitment among everyone that lives and works there to continue to learn and grow on their Eden Alternative journey. As stated by one care partner, "people have had a chance to co-create our home and it has made a difference in our journey."
