Dunbar Village in Bay St. Louis, MS renewed their Eden Registry status on December 13, 2011. It is a lively environment where the neighborhoods and Eden Families spend time together talking, sharing and playing. The Homeowner's meetings are a great time to build relationships and learn about Simple Pleasures and Life Passions. The Homeowner's meeting is also where the Elders plan what they want to do for the next week as a community and as neighborhoods. You won't find the usually monthly Activity Calendar here; they are very flexible based on the interests of the Elders from day to day. If you stop in for a visit, be sure to check out the country store that is run by the Elders. They make their own jams to sell in different flavors like strawberry, blackberry, grape, caramel apple, watermelon, pepper jelly, pickles, candy apple, key lime and pineapple. The store also sells jewelry, spiced tea, snacks and craft items. The Elders are very active in raising funds for the annual Alzheimer's Walk. They have a strong connection with the local high school and many students come in to build relationships and provide services for the Elders. For this year's Cruisin' on the Coast event, Elvis made an appearance and Elders had their pictures taken with the antique cars. The Families eat together in the evening and then spend time talking, reminiscing or playing cards. Elder Advocates are Family members who greet the new Elder at the door, give them a plant from the Garden Club and spend the next two weeks being their friend introducing them around and helping them become well-known. They have Eden Partners Training to teach new employees about the Eden Alternative and team skills. They have created a very lively home at Dunbar Village.
