There are neighborhood block parties, monthly fundraisers, a dining room, courtyard and Treasured Moments calendar where birthdays and anniversaries of employees and Elders are captured. There are neighborhood block parties, monthly fundraisers, a dining room, courtyard and Treasured Moments calendar where birthdays and anniversaries of employees and Elders are captured. The neighborhood team includes the Mayor, Treasurer and Secretary. The Country Store is run by Marvin and is a hot spot of activity with people buying goodies during the day. The money raised is used to care for their Human Habitat. The relationships in the home are strong and it is not unusual to have visitors to the home speak to how different it feels from other nursing homes. It is reflected in the Elder’s plan of care which is written in the Elder’s voice. They love mealtime, especially their monthly smorgasbord and they make a special effort to celebrate holidays on the holiday. You should see how they deck the table out for Thanksgiving! The Elders are teaching themselves about subjects of interest. Last year they had a history class and this year they are learning about the Presidents. This is a home that takes great pride in their Eden journey.
