Masonic Villages at Elizabethtown in Elizabethtown, PA renewed their Eden Registry status on March 15, 2010. This is a very large continuous care retirement community that is home to close to 2000 Elders on 1400 acres. This year is their 100th Anniversary. The highest level of support for Elders is provided within the healthcare center which has been divided into ten neighborhoods. The care partners consistently spend their time with the same Elders. Everyone who works with the healthcare center is a part of life in the neighborhood whether it is helping with a special event or cooking the monthly Breakfast of Love. The care partners receive education on culture change and can choose to follow a career ladder or take leadership development classes. They have a large garden and orchard and hold a farmer’s market weekly starting in June. There is an onsite child care center, all-day kindergarten class and they also have a Children’s Home on the grounds. The Elders and the children enjoy spending lots of time together. Mealtime, especially breakfast, is a favorite time for all to gather and enjoy the meal together. They have a thanatologist working in the community who helps them support a meaningful end-of-life experience. They also provide their own home health and hospice care across the community. There is also a new family orientation to help grow relationships, provide education and answer concerns. This community is all about ongoing growth.
