Uplands Retirement Village in Pleasant Hill, TN renewed their Eden Registry status on May 1, 2012. This community provides support to Elders that live independently, need assistance or skilled care. The village is located on over 500 acres, with 3 lakes and hiking trails. The care partners are settled into their new homes which are in two duplexes, or four homes, for the Elders. Everyone is very happy with the changes and life is good. The employee care partners have adapted to their new versatile roles in the homes. The nurses are serving as clinical mentors to the household teams. The household coordinators have received training to assist them in their new support role. Spring is here and they are planting the garden and looking forward to the fall harvest, especially tomatoes. In the assisted living home, the Elders are very involved in daily life from planning the events for the day, to collecting recyclables to helping out at the grade school across the street. They also provide assistance for the Elders living in the homes. The same is true for the Elders living in independent apartments. They are busy not only supporting one another in finding fun things to do together, they volunteer throughout the community to help their neighbors. If you stop by at mealtime in one of the homes, you will be invited to sit down and join in the meal. Food choices, extra support and great conversations make for an enjoyable dining experience for everyone. Breakfast is cooked just the way you like it in the homes and you can expect a homemade birthday cake on your special day. The community is very welcoming to new care partners (Elders and employees). The assisted living Elders volunteer to be First Friends to help new Elders get acquainted with their home. The villagers that live here understand the importance of caring for one another throughout life.
