Bear River Valley Care Center in Tremonton, UT joined the Eden Registry on August 19, 2010. They are a relationship driven community in both their actions and how they are transforming their environment. When you enter the home you immediately are welcomed into the living room where people spend time during the day. There is also a large gathering area in the center of the building where once the nursing station stood. Elder's normal routines are honored as they awaken naturally to find breakfast ready for them. There is a kitchenette available for those within the community to use to prepare foods of their choosing too. Once a week, there is a cooking class which can be hosted by those within this home or from outside visitors as well. This community has a lot of fun together, bringing meaning and joy to the time they share. In fact, they have some very musical people that live and work there so it is not unusual find people singing or dancing at any time during the day. Because they have moved away from timed medication passes, you will find the usual morning hustle and bustle to be much more relaxed. The discontinuation of overhead paging and transferring of call lights to personal pagers has helped to create a homey atmosphere as well. All in all, they have made some great strides forward on their Eden Alternative journey already. We cannot wait to see what comes next!
