The Anchorage Pioneers' Home in Anchorage, AK renewed their Eden Registry status on June 23, 2010. This home provides assistance with living for about 168 Elders. The Elders are very involved in daily life in the home whether they are just offering observations about the flow of life or involved in committees to help improve various aspects of life. The Dining Team came up with many new ideas to improve the meal experience in the home. Currently the dining areas are in the process of being redecorated under the Elders guidance, the evening meal menu has been refined and the old style of serving food on a tray will be gone soon. To enhance the garden area, which is viewed from the dining room, the home has reached out and asked people to adopt a garden space and they are filling them in with flowers. When it is mealtime, there are many locations for Elders to choose to eat in from the large dining room area to small sitting places by their rooms. Cooked-to-order breakfast is available in the main dining room area once a week. This home works hard to insure that everyone is receiving education on the Eden Alternative Principles. They even did a survey about "What is Eden" and found that most everyone knew the answer, Elders and care partners alike. This is a home that is on the move!
