Hacienda Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Hanford, CA renewed their Eden Registry status on April 5, 2011. They are home to 120 Elders living in three neighborhoods. The home also includes cats, birds and fish which the Elders enjoy taking care of. Traditional nursing stations have been replaced with dining room tables and kitchenettes where people like to gather and visit. They have a junior volunteer program where children are encouraged to get to know the Elders, to interact and create nurturing relationships. They also have a children's program that is offered during vacations from school and the summer months. They have a patio area with a play yard for the children so the Elders can enjoy that space with their families and friends. The Elders also enjoy gardening and eating the harvest from their vegetable garden. They also believe in feeding the spirit and have two pastors that provide spiritual care to the Elders. They are continuing to grow and evolve on their journey.
