Piner's Nursing and Guest Homes in Napa, CA renewed their Eden Registry status on February 2, 2012. They provide home to 47 Elders who need skilled services and 28 Elders who need assistive support. The two living areas are very connected with care partners often having parties and special meals together. Those living and working in this home have a great love of plants and animals. There are plants located along the hallways, outside of the Elder rooms. The Elders rooms have sliding glass doors so they can go outside. The care partners love to cater to the needs and wishes of the Elders. The normal routines of the Elders are honored. Because of some space issues, this home has gotten quite creative in how mealtimes are experienced. From fresh bread baking, Panini sandwiches being grilled, restaurant-style dining, celebrating national food days (like soup day, muffin day and ravioli day), candlelight dinners, the Elders eating in their rooms and barbeques on the patio. They are innovative in how they continue to make dining a fun experience. With the consistency of the relationships between the care partners and Elders, relationships are often like those within a family. The Elders on Resident Council help decide what is happening in the community as well as what is on the menu. The atmosphere is relaxed and there is plenty of time to sit and chat. This home's garden continues to grow and bloom.
