Christopher House in Wheat Ridge, CO renewed their Eden Registry status on December 7, 2010. This home provides subacute and long-term care support to about 70 Elders. They are divided into two neighborhoods, Golden Age and Silver Springs. When you enter the home, the receptionist will greet you and offer a cookie and cup of coffee. One of the exciting things happening in the home is the development of their neighborhoods with Guides and education on how to work together better as a team. They have a morning community meeting led by the Elders where they greet new Elders, celebrate birthdays and sing songs. Keep an eye out in case they start the Cupid Shuffle! The formal leaders in the home have been cross-trained in providing meaningful activities. Once a month they each host an evening event in the home. The Elders have formed a neighborhood watch program where they not only bring up issues but play a role in addressing them. When you arrive at mealtime, you will be able to choose your meal from the menu on the table and enjoy the fresh bread on the table while waiting for your meal. If you get hungry between meals, you can visit the pantry area and choose from a variety of snacks. The Elders are active within the larger community including making blankets for the hospital and conducting a fund raiser for school supplies for local children. The local Elder Concierge Services comes in to visit Elders and assist in transporting them out into the community. This is a happening home!
