Sierra Healthcare Community in Lakewood, CO renewed their Eden Registry status on November 22, 2010. This is a happening place! They provide a diversity of activities and events that are sure to meet everyone's needs whether it is visiting museums, playing music, dancing, fishing, contributing to community life, swimming, or surfing the internet, just to name a few. They really know how to build relationships and play to everyone's strengths and interests. There is a real team atmosphere throughout the home with each team member bringing their skills and their passions into the daily life of the home. The Rhythms program and the transitions team in the home really help to empower the residents to find a good balance in their life and move back out into the larger community. The care partner skills have been diversified so that they are able to meet a variety of resident needs in the moment. The residents express their individuality by personalizing their rooms. This community is also willing to educate others about the Eden Alternative. They present their story at conferences, provide a practicum site for health profession students, have Eden events with the residents, and host workshops. They are truly creating a home that for some is a stepping stone to bigger dreams.
