Heritage Healthcare of Forsyth, Forsyth, GA renewed their Eden Registry status on February 16 2012. They are home to about 72 Elders and have divided themselves into three neighborhoods each with their own unique appearance and personality. Memory Lane neighborhood has a big farm scene mural on their wall complete with a red barn. Garden City neighborhood has plants and vegetables painted into a mural on their wall. City of Angels has angels decorating the walls of their neighborhood. The neighborhoods even get a bit competitive at times. Each neighborhood has elected an Elder to serve as their mayor and new Elder greeter. There are elementary school children that come in to read with the Elders and high school students that come in to gain job skills. They have an enlivened home with dogs, cats, birds and plants. Outside they have a coy pond and raised flower beds. The Elders enjoy picking out and growing the flowers. The care partners are getting quite skilled at recognizing the simple daily pleasures of the Elders and bringing them to life, for example spending a day at the river with an Elder with a bonfire in the evening. They have a very active Resident Council that helps decide the menus and daily events, making recommendations on changes in the home. Heritage Healthcare of Forsyth has done well reaching out and making the Eden Alternative part of the town too. They have pulled so many people from the community into the daily life of the home. Even those who come to stay for a short time are happy to return if they need to. The care partners at this home have created a family atmosphere that really draws you in!
