Heritage Healthcare of Toomsboro, GA renewed their Eden Registry status on December 14, 2011. They are home to about 62 Elders. This home is located about 25 miles from the nearest town. They have one country store close by. The Elders are used to having animals and pets around because of their farming experiences. They used to keep a horse at the home and are currently exploring the idea of having a donkey. There are a lot of deer that wander through the yard. They have a standing garden out back where the Elders grow broccoli, peppers, turnips and cabbage which are some favorites. They have a lively environment where plants and children are an important part of the Elders' daily lives. Employee care partners bring in their children and grandchildren and the Elders are a part of helping them grow up. They have created a fine dining atmosphere with tablecloths, napkins, flowers, glass dishes, crystal, even music. The Elders feel like they are in a restaurant. Their neighborhoods are big on celebrating everyone's birthdays (Elder and employee care partners) and finding other reasons to come together for parties. There are weekly meetings with the Elders hosted by the Administrator which helps build relationships and address concerns. As one care partner stated, "Heritage Healthcare of Toomsboro is a place of unity. There is a sense of togetherness that is felt by both employees and Elders."
