Time for Action

Chris Perna, The Eden Alternative Blog

There are times in life when you say to yourself that there has been enough talk and now it’s time for action. I am an action-oriented person, and my inner voice says this to me all the time.

I have found several like-minded people, and we have come together to form the Dementia Action Alliance.  The Alliance is composed of leaders from CCAL – Advancing Person-Centered Living, Eden Alternative, and Planetree.

We are working together building on the great work done by the recently concluded Dementia Initiative and the ideas to improve dementia care described in their White Paper Dementia Care: The Quality Casm. Our goal is to truly define the practices that deliver a true person-centered dementia care experience and to drive change to make those practices the gold standard of dementia care nationally.

We are planning to convene a Summit in the spring of 2014 in Washington DC to bring together thought leaders committed to taking action and driving change for person-centered dementia care. We aim to create an action plan to take to the streets incorporating the very best thinking about what needs to happen to make person-centered dementia care the true gold standard because we all agree we should accept nothing less.

We’re ready to take action and hope you are ready to help us. Let us know if we have your support.
