Becoming an Eden Associate

Next week, I will take my first big step down the Eden Alternative path. I will undergo the Certified Eden Associate Training in Lexington Park, MD. Growing up surrounded by The Eden Alternative, I have always had a sense of the Principles  that drive the movement.

However, I have yet to explore the nuances of our philosophy in depth. The prospect excites me, and everyone I have talked to assures me it will be a lot of fun.

My assumption is that most of you reading this have already experienced an Eden Alternative training of some sort. Any tips for a newbie? I will be blogging the experience and sharing photos around social media.

To make things interesting, I’m going to provide a short description of what I think the experience will be like. Full disclosure, I’m cheating a little; I know more about The Eden Alternative than your average Joe.

I think, though, that my previous knowledge will make the experience somewhat unique. Some things I think I know, I really don’t. Some of the things I do really know will allow me to come to the training from a slightly different angle. But most importantly, there is a whole lot, I just plain don’t know.

I make one prediction. The training will be a total “a-ha” moment for me, and I will come out the other end with a radically new perspective.

I have to admit, it does seem kinda funny, Virgil, that you are taking the CEA. I guess I assumed you were fully versed. But you’re right, the things you do know will be deepened or experienced on a different level, and those you don’t know, well, nevermind. I repeat, everything will be experienced on a new level, LOL! Have a lot of fun and I can’t wait to read your blogs. Could be a great thing to share with people “thinking about” taking the training.

Virgil, it will be wonderful to have your perspective in our training next week! However, I hope I can live up to your expectations for the training! 🙂 You will love it every minute of it. My favorite part of the training is seeing everyone have those a-ha moments.
