Pine Ridge Care and Rehabilitation in Elizabethton, TN, joined the Eden Alternative Registry on 9/25/2015.

This small rural home takes creating home very seriously by making sure that everyone that lives and works there has a strong sense of well-being. Care partner employees have consistent assignments and take special care to get know and honor the simple pleasures of each of the 78 Elders that live there. Each day begins at a nice and slow pace with prayer, hot coffee and a nutritious breakfast.

Elders and care partners take time each day talking, telling stories and sharing in each other’s lives.  Each summer they look forward to hosting a summer camp for the care partner’s children.  Elders take great pride in providing backpacks filled with school supplies to all of the children and grandchildren of the care partner employees that work there.  The home is thoughtfully decorated according to the current season and Elders rooms are decorated with items from their previous homes.

A favorite activity is harvesting, cooking and eating the vegetables from the raised garden beds.  Every day is different and filled with activities such as making apple butter, delivering cookies to the local fire departments or singing songs around the piano.  They have done a lot of work with essential oils are finding that it is having a positive impact by increasing appetites and reducing anxiety. Connection to community is extremely important  to them, so much so, that their home motto is, “People you know caring for people you love.”

Pine Ridge Care is leading the way! Love that their lives are interwoven with time together, children and harvesting their garden. Thank you for sharing their encouraging story. MK
