Ohio Veteran’s Home in Sandusky Ohio joined the Eden Alternative registry on August 15, 2014.

Located on 100 acres near the beautiful Lake Erie, they opened in 1888 to care for veterans of the Civil War and is still in full operation providing home to over 700 Veteran’s to this day.

If an active lifestyle with deep caring relationships is what you’re looking for, look no further than Ohio Veteran’s Home in Sandusky.  This comfortable community offers many leisure and entertainment opportunities like putt putt golf, billiard tables and plenty of game/movie and popcorn nights. Veterans here enjoy time together in the Peacock Lounge, out on the large patio outside watching live peacocks roam the grounds or in the great room that is filled with interesting activities throughout the day and evening.

There is a computer lab, post office, library and onsite treasury for personal banking needs. The mealtime experience has been enhanced by extending dining times, providing table side service and offering  a wide variety of fresh nutritious choices and. The camaraderie and relationships are what make daily life so rich.

Care partner employees and Veterans gather together to create healthy and fun competitions between the neighborhoods, welcome new Veterans to their home and support each other when there is the loss of a loved one. Bosco the Resident Council President and Veteran says it best when he says it is all of our jobs “To lift, love, lead other to a better way of life through a positive attitude.”
