The Sleepover Project: An ON-DEMAND Webinar Event*
How experiencing life as a nursing home resident can transform your organization…
Would you manage a restaurant you were afraid to eat in? How about a hotel that you wouldn’t spend the night in? Probably not, yet most of us in long-term care management have never experienced life as a nursing home resident. This webinar will describe the experiences and growth that occurred in one organization where all members of the executive leadership team experienced life as a resident for 24-hours. You will receive tools and tips for implementing this initiative yourself and ideas on how to use the experience to drive organizational growth.
Pat McBride is the VP of Clinical and Compliance at Christian Living Communities/Cappella Living Solutions based out of Denver Colorado. She believes empathy is the most powerful trait that can influence change. Pat saw an opportunity for her leadership team to cultivate their empathy skills by having each senior leadership team member spend the night in the nursing home over a summer. The impact of their “Collective Empathy Experience” was impactful for each individual as well as the organization as a whole.
Jill Vitale-Aussem has worked for over 20 years to change the culture of nursing homes, assisted living communities and retirement communities, as a nursing home administrator, CCRC executive director and vice president of operations. During this time, she spent the night multiple times in the organizations she led. Since 2018, Jill has served as President & CEO of The Eden Alternative, a global non-profit focused on creating quality of life for elders and their care partners, no matter where they may live. Jill is the author of Disrupting the Status Quo of Senior Living: A Mindshift and speaks internationally on topics including ageism, leadership and culture change.
