The Eden Alternative Gets A Little More Diverse
Griswold Home Care in Pinellas County, Florida joined the Eden Registry on July 24, 2013. They are the very first Home and Community Based Service organization to join the Eden Registry.
They have about 125 care partners that work independently across the county to serve their clients. The care partners are invited in regularly for coffee hours where they can build their network of support and help each other to grow. This organization is focused on providing the very best in Elder-directed care and places a heavy emphasis on well-being and relationships for everyone in the care partner team. Their mission is:
“To be a leader in home care, honoring and respecting the individuality and choices of all members of the care partner team. To provide affordable opportunities for Elders to feel safe, connected and lead meaningful lives of continued growth wherever home may be.”
They believe in this mission and operationalize the Principles of the Eden Alternative in the care they provide. It begins as each Elder is interviewed to learn more about their interests and accomplishments, regular routines and daily rhythm of life.
The Elder defines the type of support they need and the personalities of care partners they want to support them. Then a pairing process begins where the needs of the Elder are matched up with the available care partners. The foundation of their approach to care is all about forming up strong relationships and helping people become well-known to one another.
Griswold is taking what they have learned out into the larger community through their newsletters, presentations and Eden at Home Care Partner workshops. If you are interested in learning more about how the Eden Alternative Principles can impact the lives of those living in their own homes, please feel free to contact Griswold Home Care to learn more!
