Wow! July was an exciting month for The Eden Alternative. We received results from two different studies showing significant correlation between the implementation of The Eden Alternative and improved CMS measures for nursing homes.

The first was an analysis of CMS Nursing Home Compare data (link to press release) that showed Eden Registry Members  outperformed other organizations with higher overall CMS five-star ratings, higher survey CMS five-star ratings and fewer substantiated complaints. Go Eden Registry Members!

The second was an analysis of a CMS grant-funded collaboration with the Tennessee Eden Alternative Coalition. The three-year project focused on teaching nursing home employees non-pharmacological practices to help them identify and address the unmet needs of individuals living with dementia. Participating nursing homes achieved significantly higher reductions in long-stay antipsychotic use than nonparticipating homes with participating homes achieving a 20.7 percent reduction (versus a 12.4% reduction for non-participants).

We are beaming with pride for our Eden Registry Members and the Tennessee grant project participants! Learn more here about results for both projects.
