Leadership is a complex, multifaceted skill, and in today’s rapidly changing world, the way we lead is constantly evolving.
Effective leadership involves much more than just directing a team or making strategic decisions. It’s about understanding people, navigating challenges, fostering collaboration, and creating environments where teams can thrive.

The Eden Alternative
Eden Alternative Community Builder Emily Connors and I are facilitating an upcoming live online training, “Leadership: Using the Science to Elevate the Art”, that kicks off on February 20, 2025.
This 9-session training developed by Nancy Fox promises to bring together evidence-based insights and practical leadership strategies.
The goal of this training is to help leaders understand and integrate findings from fields like neuroscience, sociology, and psychology into their leadership practice, while also highlighting the more intuitive, human-centered aspects of leadership.
It’s about combining the “science” of leadership with the “art” of leading people effectively.
What Will You Learn
- Leadership Neuroscience This training explores how our brains respond to stress, how we make decisions, and how trust is built through person-directed leadership.
- Personal Insights Participants will be challenged to look at their own beliefs, values, and assumptions. They will learn how these hidden biases affect staff turnover and their ability to create a culture that is worth staying for.
- The Lie We Tell Ourselves A deep look at how change happens and how leaders can influence and support the people around them.
- Leading Change Change is an unavoidable part of leadership, and it seems almost never-ending in our current world. This training will teach you how to develop trust, motivation, and empowerment within a team.
Who Should Attend
This training is for people in both formal and informal leadership roles. It is a great opportunity for people who have held their leadership roles for a long time and those who are just starting to develop their leadership skill set. Managing and leading are two different skill sets and we invite you to come experience why.
Participants will actively engage with their peers and facilitators throughout the 9-sessions and need to have access to a camera and mic.
Meet a Facilitator
As a Community Builder with The Eden Alternative and one of the facilitators of the training, I have been fascinated with how humans interact and dedicated my school years to deepening my understanding of both the hard and soft sciences that study what we do. My triple majors of psychology, sociology, and criminal justice led into a master’s degree in forensic psychology.
After spending a decade working with and leading teams in the addiction counseling profession, I shifted my focus to elder care in 2018. I have been with the Eden Alternative Home Office Team since 2022 and am excited to grow alongside attendees of this training.
Final Thoughts
