You have been invited to attend a training, covered by a grant project, to learn about The Eden Alternative®. You find a few people who can free up a couple of days to attend. They come back excited about something called person-directed care. Before going all in, you decide to do some research and gather more information. You connect with other organizations, go to conferences, trainings, webinars, even travel to The Netherlands!
You want to find the right fit to support your organization’s needs.
After much research, it is agreed that The Eden Alternative is the best fit. Their approach meets you where you are now and provides the flexibility you desire. A phone call later, a contract is signed, and you have a consultant from Eden. Through a series of consultant visits, and more training, the team discovers how valuable it is to have another set of eyes and ears really tuning into opportunities to improve. Someone that can see possibilities that you have not yet imagined. The consultant asks questions and opens up conversations that need to happen. Employees and residents are drawn into discussions and meetings to identify and address issues. The team realizes that they can change things that were previously considered unchangeable. The possibilities are endless now!

What is The Eden Alternative?
We are a 501c3 non-profit organization with a global mission to improve the well-being of Elders and their care partners – by transforming the communities in which they live and work.
We provide education, tools, and resources to help care partner teams look at their roles differently than the traditional models of care. Our work impacts hundreds of thousands of people across more than 20 countries and transforms caring relationships throughout all care settings and services.
The Eden Approach® is not a program, and it does not add to your workload. With the Eden Approach, you will do what you already do, differently.
What kinds of services and products do you offer?
- Education – in-person and online training in leadership, person-directed care, and person-directed dementia care
- Consulting – Personalized coaching to move your organization toward a culture of person-directed care
- Eden Membership – tools, resources, and best practices in person-directed care, including an online community to connect with other Eden Members
How to get started with Eden Education and Consulting
What do I need to do to get started? How do I bring Eden to my community?

- Share with us where you are today, and where you want to go.
- We will explore your current practices and discover areas of growth, then share what resources are available to support you and recommend next steps.
What to expect from an initial consultation
So, what happens first?
Relationships are at the core of what the Eden Alternative teaches and how it operates. Our first step is to get to know you, your team, and your story first.
We’ll explore what you need most right now.
- What are the strengths you want to build on right now?
- What is the issue(s) you most need help with right now?
- What does success look like for you?
- What is your prior experience with change efforts? What works for your team and what does not?
Then we’ll get into: what approach best meets your needs?
Because you and your team are unique, we will explore what kind of support will work best.
- Who will be championing improvement efforts?
- What competing priorities are happening right now that may divert your attention?
- What is the best way(s) for you and your team to learn, engage, and take action, e.g., in-person, self-study, online, other?
Finally, we’ll align about how best to move forward!
- Together, we’ll talk through the Education and Consulting options available. (in-person, online, self-study)
- Once familiar with the offerings available, we will find the right combination to connect, empower, and transform the way your team works and communicates.
- Then we can tailor your approach to match your budget.
